Amado Unite was born in Ermita, Manila, on September 13, 1923, but grew up in Ballesteros, Cagayan, where he finished his secondary schooling at Cagayan High in 1939. He enrolled for civil engineering in the University of the Philippines, with the War interrupting his studies, and he graduated in April 1950. He worked afterwards as construction foreman for the Department of Public Works in Lipa City, Batangas. He has no books on record, but his works have been anthologized and his manuscripts noted by researchers and National Artists. He was a member of the UP Writers’ Club.
