Jolico Cuadra was born in 1937 in Zamboanga, but he was raised in Manila and Davao. He studied in Paris at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts and Le Grand Schaumiére after graduating from a local school. He paints and writes mostly poetry; he occupies himself too with occultism. A free-lance writer, he has also worked as technical assistant in the SSS and art columnist in Bulletin Today.

For his Possibilitarian Poems, he received (with two others) an Honorable Mention in the 1973 CCP Awards. In 1978, he shared with Cesar Ruiz Aquino the Palanca second prize for his collection of poems, “The Dogging Years.” He was also the local awardee in 1979 for the S.E.A.Write Award given by the King of Thailand.
