Conrado Saquian Norada

Ilongo fiction writer Conrado Saquian Norada was born on May 19, 1921 in Iloilo City. He studied at Miag-ao Elementary School, Iloilo National High School, and University of Iloilo, finishing with a law degree in 1950. He was an intelligence officer of the sixth military district during WWII and became governor of Iloilo from 1969 to 1986. In addition to becoming the national president of the Sumakwelan Ilongo organization, he was also co-founder and editor of Yuhum magazine. In 1990, the UMPIL awarded him the Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas for Ilongo fiction.

Norada’s published works include "Ang Likum ni Diana" (Diana’s Secret) inKasanag magazine, Bulak nga Ilahas (Wild Flower), Balay sa Pangpang sang Suba (House by the River Bank), Sekretarya (Secretary), Dalugdog sa Dughan(Dalugdog at the Breast), and Ang Gugma Bulag (Love Is Blind).
