Kasabay nang pagbubukas ng Academic Year 2016-2017 ng Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Sta. Mesa Manila ang pagsisimula rin ng klase para sa mga natanggap na senior high school students sa grade 11 at 12 na may kabuuang bilang na 4,200. Hati ito sa 105 sections na may kabuuang bilang na 40 students bawat isa. 50 sections mula rito na nasa ilalim ng Academic Track ang kukuha ng subject na 21st Century Literature, Creative Non-Fiction at Malikhaing Pagsulat na mula sa STRAND ng Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS). Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM). Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). At General Academic Strand (GAS). Tinanggap ng PUP ang mga mag-aaral na ito upang maging pamalit sa humigit-kumulang na 10,000 freshmen na regular at taunang pumapasok sa pamantasan at pansamantalang lunas na rin para mabigyan ng teaching load ang mga dati ng part-time faculty.

Ang Pagpunta

Umayos ako ng upo nang magsalita si mam Luna. Bahagi ‘yon ng pambungad na pananalita niya sa dalawang araw na seminar-worshop ng UP Institute of Creative Writing Teachers Seminar, noong ika-20 at 21 ng Enero, 2017. Ang tema: Reading and Teaching Different Genres of Literature. Dinaluhan ‘yon ng ibat ibang guro at administrador mula sa loob at labas ng NCR na ginanap naman sa bulwagang Picasso ng Sulo Riviera Hotel.

LIKHAAN: The UP Institute of Creative Writing will be having its second installment of the Panayam Lecture Series for 2017 on April 6, 2017, 1 to 4 pm, at Palma Hall 1131, UP Diliman. The lecturers are ICW associate Prof. Vladimeir Gonzales and 56th UP National Writers Workshop Fellow Karren Renz Seña.

Sa ikalawang pagkakataon, magsasanib ang mga litrato ng ibon at mga tula ni Prop. Reuel Molina Aguila.

Pinamagatang Sa Pakpak ng Tula 2, ang mga litrato ay direktong nilimbag sa kahoy, metal, at tiles; bukod pa sa tradisyunal na paggamit ng papel.

Ang exhibit ay nagsisilbing ambag ng Departamento ng Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas para sa Linggo ng Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura mula Marso 31, 2017.

Kritika Kultura, the international refereed journal of language, literary, and cultural studies of the Department of English, Ateneo de Manila University will host a lecture by Paul Michael Leonardo Atienza titled “The Promise of Intimacy: Gay Filipinos on Mobile Phone Apps in Manila and Los Angeles.” The lecture is on Mar. 30, 2017, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., at Faber Hall Rm. 302, Ateneo de Manila University. The lecture is open to the public.

Kritika Kultura, the international refereed journal of language, literary, and cultural studies of the Department of English, Ateneo de Manila University—in partnership with the Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and Practices (AILAP), Fine Arts Department (AdMU) and Kagawaran ng Filipino (AdMU)—presents “Benilda S. Santos: Pantas ng Ating Panahon,” a series of lectures featuring Michael M. Coroza, Gary Devilles, and Oscar V. Campomanes. The event will be moderated by J. Pilapil Jacobo. The forum will be on Mar. 21, 2017, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., at the Faura AVR. This event is open to the public.

Inihahandog ng UP Diliman Discourse Studies Group at Tanggapan ng Kawaksing Dekano sa Usaping Akademiko ng Kolehiyo ng Agham Panlipunan at Pilosopiya ang isang napapanahong panayam mula kay Dr. Raul Casantusan Navarro ukol sa Musika sa Kasaysayan ng Filipinas at kung paano ginamit ang musika sa pagbuo ng diskurso sa iba’t ibang panahon.

Itinataguyod ng UP Sentro ng Wikang Filipino-Diliman sa pakikipagtulungan ng UP Diliman Gender Office, University Center for Women and Gender Studies, Gabriela Women’s Partylist,  UP Portia Sorority ng Kolehiyo ng Batas, at DZUP ang regular na talakayang Talasalitaan na may pamagat na “Ang Wikang Filipino sa Pagsulong ng Karapatan ng Kababaihan” sa Marso 31, 2017 (Biyernes) sa ganap na 9:00 nu-11:00 nu sa Malcolm Theater, Kolehiyo ng Batas, UP Diliman. Ang programang ito’y pakikiisa ng UP SWF-Diliman sa pagdiriwang ng Pandaigdigang Buwan ng Kababaihan ngayong Marso 2017.

Camarines Sur-based Teatro Ragayano, a finalist in the Best Cultural Group category of the 2016 Aliw Awards, will stage an environmental play to commemorate World Theater Day. This was announced by artistic director Eilyn Nidea recently.

The UP Institute of Creative Writing (ICW) is now accepting submissions for the eleventh issue of Likhaan: The Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature.

The Philippines' leading literary peer-reviewed journal, the Likhaan Journal is published annually with funding from the University of the Philippines. It features the best of new and unpublished Philippine writing in English and Filipino. Submissions to the journal undergo a strict pre-screening and blind refereeing process by both the editors and a panel of referees composed of eminent writers and critics from within and outside UP.
